Viking will launch an itinerary next year to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, in World War II.
The new 12-day Paris and D-Day 80th Anniversary tour will commemorate Operation Overlord, focusing on the landmarks, figures and battles that took place nearly eight decades ago, which served as a catalyst to the liberation of Western Europe from German occupation.
The Paris & D-Day 80th Anniversary itinerary will begin with a four-day land tour in London, visiting historical WWII sites, including the Churchill War Rooms, the homes of WWII codebreakers in Bletchley Park and the Imperial War Museum.
Guests will then continue onto Paris where they will embark a Viking Longship for a seven-night roundtrip cruise that visits Vernon, Rouen, Les Andelys and other cities along the way. Visits to Normandy’s American Military Cemetery and WWII beach will be included.
Guests will also have a chance to visit Giverny, where they can visit the gardens and farmhouse where Claude Monet lived and worked, and trace Joan of Arc’s history in Rouen.
Departure dates for the Paris & D-Day 80th Anniversary itinerary will run from March through November 2024.
