Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City opens

The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City officially opened on Oct. 28 after six years in development.

First announced in 2015, the new 153-room hotel is part of a 58-story skyscraper that also holds residential units and is centrally located in the metropolis across from Chapultepec Park.

“We are thrilled to bring The Ritz-Carlton brand to Mexico City, exemplifying our commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences and creating meaningful memories in the world’s most exciting markets,” Donna McNamara, vice president and global brand leader at the Ritz-Carlton, said in a statement. “Whether enjoying a hotel tour with a local historian to be immersed into the Mexican rituals and celebrations that inspired the hotel design, or allowing our ladies and gentlemen to curate a day of exploration in the city, we are excited to provide both guests and locals with a unique lens on this incredible destination.”

The building was designed by Taller G, with interior decor conceived by Chapi Chapo Design. The tower incorporates metals, mirrors and glass to reflect the exterior into the interior, playing with perspective in an homage to Mexico’s surrealist artists like Frida Kahlo and Leonora Carrington.

The hotel features The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge with an exclusive concierge, a heated indoor swimming pool, fitness center and Ritz-Carlton Spa. Samos, the signature restaurant bar, is a Mediterranean-inspired establishment on the 38th floor.

The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City also features 4,300 square feet of meetings space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Chapultepec Park.
