On Jan. 6, a man was found unconscious in the Thunderbird Glade area at the Powderhorn Mountain Resort and was later pronounced dead.
According to a news release from Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:30 p.m. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received a call from two skiers who found the unconscious 29-year-old man buried in snow.
He has yet to be identified.
On-site the Powderhorn Ski Patrol performed CPR and continued while he was transported to an ambulance.
According to the news release, The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is working on figuring out the cause of death as well as the man’s identity.
