You don’t have to go abroad with your other half to experience romance. There are plenty of areas in the UK that ooze charm and magic. Express.co.uk chatted to Nicky from The Points Guy to find out where couples should go for a staycation this year. Read on to find out the top five places to visit with your partner.
The Lake District is a romantic region in Northwest England that is known for its national park, lakes, and mountains.
It’s also a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of British City life and enjoy nature with someone special.
Nicky said: “The Lake District is perfect for long romantic walks surrounded by dramatic scenery and hidden spots for…a sit down.
“There are loads of fun outdoor activities for couples too like midnight lake swims as well as a decent amount of Michelin starred restaurants.”

City of Bath
Bath is a beautiful city in the county of Somerset, named after its Roman-built baths.
Nicky said: “Bath is home to the Roman thermal baths and what better way to get romantic than to ‘take the waters’ with your other half.
“Taking a stroll over Pulteney Bridge, which spans the River Avon, is highly romantic too – perfect for that couples Instagram picture.”
Bath has plenty of great places to eat and drink, from bistros to coffee houses to farm shops to posh restaurants.
Isle of Skye
If you want something a little more off-the-grid, visit the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
There’s nothing more romantic than strolling across beaches and mountains with your favourite person.
Nicky said: “The Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides has some stunning vistas – but when the mist closes in, there are plenty of castles, museums and cosy pubs to while away the hours with someone special.”
You won’t be disappointed by the food Isle of Skye has to offer, from local seafood restaurants to dinner at your cosy B&B.

Cornwall is a popular holiday destination for British families, but it is also the perfect place for couples to relax.
Nicky said: “Cornwall is chock full of remote places to stay with amazing views of the Atlantic.
“Imagine being caught in a storm in a smuggler’s cove hideaway with only each other for company.”
If you’re lucky enough to get some good weather, you could spend your days on the beach or try kayaking or surfing.
If you are looking for something really remote and quiet, try the Cotwolds.
Nicky suggested: “Hire a car for two and weave your way through the rolling Cotswolds countryside.
“Stop for romantic ambles through quintessentially English villages before spending the night (or two) at a traditional amber bricked inn.”
There are plenty of trails to travel down by foot and you can visit some beautiful castles, manors, and parks.
