Amid changing rules seeing many passengers being caught out on flights. easyJet reminds its passengers in a safety video to make a key purchase ahead of departure to ensure comfort while travelling. In a safety video from easyJet’s package holiday arm easyJet Holidays, passengers are reminded that new social distancing and safety rules may impact the service they receive onboard flights.
This includes the food service and could massively affect the comfort of some passengers, particularly those on long flights.
Luckily the airline does offer a solution to avoid rumbling tummies.
In the video, an easyJet spokesperson explains: “To keep you safe onboard we may not be able to offer you any inflight service including food and drink. So, it is best to grab something before you board.”
Though many airport shops are closed, in most airports, retailers selling necessary goods – including food and drink – remain open.
Passengers could also pre-pack food at home, though will not be able to bring any liquids over 100ml through security.
Although easyJet has updated information on its website and has issued a series of new safety videos, some travellers are still being caught out when it comes to the new COVID-19 measures.
Most recently, an update to regulations in France mean customers jetting off to the nation may be penalised for the type of face mask they wear while travelling.
The new regulation set out by French authorities says that single-use masks must be worn.

Reusable face coverings are not permitted.
French legislation explains: “All persons aged eleven or over shall, onboard an aircraft engaged in public transport to, from or within the national territory, wear the protective mask referred to in section I of Article 49 from the moment of boarding.”
These “protective masks” are detailed as EN 14683 – standard, single-use surgical masks.
The French rule issued on July 10 states this applies to international and internal flights in France.
Understandably, Air France and other airlines local to the country are enforcing the rule, but recent reports also state that easyJet has taken the advice onboard.
Two easyJet passengers ran into difficulty when the British airline implemented this rule on a flight to France.
One told local media outlet Connexion France their high-protection white hospital mask was deemed unsuitable.
The duo then had to rely on their fellow fliers to provide them with masks, as there were no dispensing machines at the airport.
An easyJet spokesperson explained that the mask rule is a requirement from the French authorities which they must adhere to.
He told Express.co.uk: “The French authorities have passed legislation that requires all passengers over the age of 11 travelling to and from France by air to wear a disposable surgical mask and no other types of face masks will be accepted.
“easyJet is informing customers of this requirement via email, SMS and Flight Tracker ahead of departure.
“Customers are also alerted to the importance of checking any current travel requirements on our homepage and via our Know Before You Go information pages at easyJet.com.”
