Hero pilot orders everyone pizza after turbulent weather causes 6-hour diversion

Although some of us probably can't remember what being on a flight feels like, we all know how annoying a delay could be.

Forget delays, flight diversions are often quite irritating especially when all you want to do is just land already.

But one pilot made things a little easier to swallow for passengers after buying a pizza for everyone on the plane.

The American Airlines attendant managed to "slice" through the passengers' cabin fever by treating them to a pizza.

It all happened when the flight had already departed 40 minutes late before encountering severe thunderstorms along the way.

To allow the weather pass on, the aircraft was forced to land in Charleston where it spent an hour and 22 minutes on the runway.

An American Airlines spokesperson later told The Independent that their staff are "the best in the business".

They added: "Rain or shine, our team consistently proved they're the best in the business."

The hero pilot came to the rescue by ordering everyone on board a pizza.

Then six hours after the initial take-off from Florida, the aircraft finally touched down in its destination Charlotte.

Meanwhile this isn't the first time a flight captain came to the rescue onboard an aircraft.

Previously, an Air Canada pilot ordered 23 cheese and pepperoni pizzas for passengers stuck on a diverted airbus in 2019.
