While Disney World has everything you could want for a dreamy getaway, there's another spot that needs to be on any Mickey Mouse fan's list; an exclusive island dedicated to all things Disney…
Disney Castaway Cay has everything you could want for an unforgettable family trip; water parks, white sand beaches with open air BBQ parties, water sports, kids' clubs and lavish cabanas, reports the Mirror.
That includes appearances from the cast members like Mickey Mouse, Minnie and friends that make the whole trip even more magical.
Located in the Bahamas it has major dream holiday credentials, complete with picture-perfect beaches, turquoise lagoons, palm trees and beautiful walking trails.
The island is open exclusive to Disney Cruise Line holidaymakers, and it's not difficult to see why it's such a popular port of call with families.
For a start there's heaps for guests of all ages to enjoy. There's Pelican's Plunge which is essentially a water park floating on the ocean water where you'll find the likes of water cannons and slides, splash play area Spring-a-Leak and a plethora of activities including swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and more.
Fitness fans can enjoy the likes of yoga classes, volleyball and football sessions, and even the Castaway Cay 5K where you can walk or run the distance to explore the island's best highlights.
There's plenty of Disney magic nestled throughout the destination too. Beloved characters can be found wandering around, you can enjoy themed food and drinks such as Olaf's Summertime Freeze with its specialty frozen drinks.
The island is also home to turquoise lagoons where you can enjoy a spot of snorkeling – keep an eye out for the Disney themed underwater sculptures as well as the marine life!
Meanwhile foodies will want to check out some of the open-air BBQ dining options serving complimentary meals, not to mention the wide array of Disney snacks to be found. Oh, and of course there are shops where you can pick up some Castaway Cay merchandise.
Want to send a postcard to your loved ones back home? The island actually has its own post office!
For those who aren't travelling with children the island's Serenity Bay may also appeal. This adults-only area has open-air cabanas where you can get massages, bars serving up specialty drinks, and heaps of beach space if you want to soak up the sunshine away from the main hustle and bustle.
How to visit Castaway Cay
Castaway Cay is one of those incredible islands owned by cruise lines, so if you want to visit for yourself you'll need to book on to one of Disney's cruise holidays around the the Bahamas or Caribbean, as those are the only ways to visit the island.
The bucket-list-worthy destination will be one of the ports of call for the maiden season of new ship Disney Wish when she sails in summer later this year.

It will also be one of the stops on Disney Fantasy's sailings in early 2023 which will also feature special 'Pixar Day at Sea' itineraries.
Disney Cruise Line predominantly sails from the USA so you'll often need to fly over if you want to enjoy one of the cruises to the Bahamas and subsequently Castaway Cay.
