Jet2 has decided to cancel further flights and holidays to the Canary Islands up and including October 17. The carrier and tour operator said that anyone affected by the changes will be contacted to discuss their options. Customers who have been affected can rebook with no admin fee, receive a Refund Credit Note or a cash refund.

Jet2 added: “For bookings due to travel to the Canary Islands from October 18 onwards, we will provide an additional update once we receive further information from the government.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding.”

The airline also suspended its package holidays to Faro in Portugal up to and including October 31 last week.

The carrier said it would continue to operate flights to Faro with a revised flight programme.

However, customers will be contacted if their flights or package holidays are affected.

“We can assure our customers and partners in Faro that we remain completely committed to this fantastic destination,” Jet2 said.

They also said that bookings for next summer and winter are “looking strong”.

Although flights and holidays to some destinations have been suspended, there is one holiday spot that is more popular than ever among Britons.

Turkey has become a new British favourite in recent months, mainly due to the country’s low coronavirus infection rates.

The country has also remained on the UK’s quarantine exemption list, solidifying itself as a reliable holiday destination.

Jet2 has also witnessed an increase in demand for the holiday destination.

The budget airline has added extra flights with “great flight times” for those looking for some last-minute sunshine.

With Turkey continuing to enjoy popularity with holidaymakers, Jet2 have added additional flights and holidays to Antalya, Dalaman, Izmir and Bodrum.

Just last month, Jet2 added 50 flights to Turkey in response to demand, so this latest capacity increase shows just how popular Turkey continues to be.

The additional services to Turkey are:

Birmingham – Antalya, Dalaman

Edinburgh – Dalaman, Antalya

East Midlands – Dalaman

Glasgow – Dalaman, Antalya

Leeds Bradford – Dalaman, Bodrum

Manchester – Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir

Newcastle – Dalaman, Antalya

London Stansted – Antalya, Bodrum

Steve Heapy, CEO of and Jet2holidays, said: “It’s clear from the high demand we are seeing for holidays and flights to Turkey that customers are keen to get away this Summer 20 for a much-needed holiday.

“As usual, we have been quick to respond to that demand, giving our customers what they want by adding more seats and holidays on sale to this sunny hotspot.

“With fantastic deals and free child places available, on top of great choice and flexibility, there is no better time to take advantage of a welcome escape.”
