Ryanair flights to Portugal no longer come with the threat of having to self-isolate on one’s return to the UK. Yesterday the government announced Portugal was being added to the travel corridor list. The news will no doubt be gladly welcomed by anyone currently in Portugal, Britons due to travel soon and those hoping to jet off to the much-loved destination in the future.
Ryanair is also making the most of the exciting announcement.
The budget airline has launched a new sale.
Flights to Portugal from the UK are now on sale from just £19.99.
However, holidaymakers will have to snap them up soon – the sale ends on Sunday night.
Ryanair said in a statement today: “Ryanair welcomed the UK Government’s decision to place Portugal on its list of countries UK holidaymakers can visit, following the popular destinations sharp decline in COVID cases.
“Placing Portugal on the UK travel corridor is welcome news for millions of Ryanair customers, so to celebrate Ryanair is launching a flash seat sale with flights from just £19.99 one way for travel in late August and September.
“These fares are some of the lowest ever offered for last-minute Summer travel and UK customers looking to book that long-awaited Summer getaway should book on the www.Ryanair.com website by midnight Sunday, August 23 to avoid missing out.
Ryanair’s Dara Brady commented o the sale: “Ryanair welcomes the decision by the UK Government to place Portugal on its ‘safe list’ of countries UK travellers can visit.
“This will no doubt be welcome news for millions of UK customers, so we’re delighted to announce a flash seat sale on flights to Portugal in August and September, with fares as low as £19.99 one way.
“The Summer isn’t over yet and it’s never been cheaper to book flights.
“To avail of these great fares, customers must be quick and visit the Ryanair.com website to book their trip before midnight, Sunday, August 23 to avoid missing out.”
Fellow low-cost carrier Jet2 is also relaunching flights to Portugal following the government update.
Jet2 will see its first flights depart to Faro, in the Algarve, from August 24.
It will join the current Madeira flight offering already in place.
Passengers can jet off on weekly flights to the sun-soaked destination from all nine of Jet2’s UK bases.
Airports serving the holiday hotspot include Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle.
The latest UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) travel advice for Portugal is as follows: “Portugal, including Madeira, Porto Santo and the Azores, is exempt from the FCO advice against all non-essential international travel.
“This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
“From 4am on August 22, Portugal will be added to the list of countries where self-isolation on return to the UK is not required.
“You will still need to provide your journey and contact details before you travel.”
