TUI holidays: TUI updates advice for flights, holidays and cruises – what you need to know

TUI announced at the weekend that it will resume flights from July 11. The beloved holiday operator will fly to just eight destinations after its hiatus. Britons will be able to choose from one of 44 weekly flights to Ibiza, Palma, Corfu, Crete, Kos, Rhodes, Lanzarote and Tenerife.

TUI customers will be able to fly from three airports in the UK – London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

The travel company updated its travel advice this week.

A message from TUI on the operator’s website states: “Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office currently advise against all but essential travel.

“We’d like to extend a personal thank you for your patience and understanding as our customer service and social media teams work around the clock during such an unprecedented time.

“We’ve been working behind the scenes to make a number of changes to our processes.

“These changes will make sure that we’re able to offer additional support to you going forward and will make managing your booking much easier for you.”

The following TUI holidays have been cancelled:

– TUI holidays travelling on or before July 10 2020, including flight-only bookings

– TUI River Cruises sailings travelling up until and including November 25 2020

– TUI Lakes and Mountain holidays travelling up until and including September 30 2020

– TUI Tours travelling up until and including October 31 2020

A number of TUI’s cruise offerings have also been axed. These include:

Marella Cruises sailings on or before August 27 2020 and all sailings detailed below

– All sailings on Marella Celebration

– Sailings on Marella Discovery 2 from Naples, Asia and the Middle East up to April 30 2021

– Sailings on Marella Dream from Palma up to May 4 2021

– Marella Discovery sailings on or before October 31 2020, and from Jamaica in December 2020 and January 2021

– Marella Explorer 2 sailings from Naples between May 5 2021 to October 20 2021, and the 90s v 00s Sunsets cruise on September 5 2020.

TUI states: “All other holidays are continuing to operate as planned and will be continuously reviewed.

“If your holiday is affected and for any reason can’t operate as planned, we will be proactively contacting you to discuss your options.

“If your holiday is operating as planned, we will proactively contact you to let you know and confirm all the details.”

The travel firm has a number of new health and safety measures in place for the holidays that are going ahead.

Key health and safety measures


– Mandatory face masks on board

– Extra cleaning and disinfecting of aircraft

– State-of-the-art hospital standard air filtering systems to keep fresh air flowing through the cabin every few minutes

– Hand sanitiser sachets available to customers on board

– Customers advised to remain seated as much as possible with cabin crew managing bathroom queues


– Hand sanitising stations set up throughout hotels

– Social distancing markers on the floor

– Restaurants may have fewer tables and will stay open for longer

– In many properties, table service will replace self-service dining

– Resort facilities, like sports courts, may be open for longer than normal to allow for social distancing

– Sun loungers at pools and beaches will be disinfected between each new guest
