Global travel site Big 7 Travel has officially released its annual list of the 50 best islands in the world \u2013 and one group of UK islands made the cut. <\/p>\n
In at number 36 was the Isles of Scilly. As the most remote and tropical island in England it\u2019s located 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall.<\/p>\n

As you would expect from an island so close to the county of blue water and white beaches it\u2019s truly an incredible collection of islands. It offers crystal clear Atlantic waters, soft powder-like beaches and even rolling vineyards where wine is grown.<\/p>\n
The dramatic headlands are covered in reams of colourful wildflowers and the Isles of Scilly even boats a sub-tropical climate. Making it the perfect place for a holiday where Brits won\u2019t even need a passport (though you will need photo ID).<\/p>\n

The islands are like nowhere else in the UK. There are five inhabited islands – St. Mary's, Tresco, St. Martin's, Bryher and St. Agnes plus countless uninhabited ones you can explore on day trips and hikes.<\/p>\n
They have a fascinating history and you can take a look at incredible shipwrecks, rich wildlife and the sweeping sea views. Of course, being an island its known for its seafood from lobster and crabs to fish.<\/p>\n
St Mary\u2019s is the biggest island with a town and plenty of beaches while Tresco is known for having an added luxury. St Martin\u2019s is all about the miles of white beaches and palm trees while Bryher has rugged cliffs and pretty coves.<\/p>\n

History buffs should head to St Agnes where there are Bronze Age burial sites while animal lovers can explore the undisturbed wildlife on the uninhabited islands.<\/p>\n
The Isles of Scilly boast sea air, mild weather and plenty of cafes, restaurants and farm stalls. There are also heaps of adventures you can go on two from island hopping by boat to photography and craft sessions.<\/p>\n
Barefoot beach combing, picnics on the sand and spotting the sunset will make you feel like you\u2019re in another country. Plus there are plenty of island walks, waterspouts and a thriving artistic community.<\/p>\n

To get the the islands you can fly from Exeter Airport, Cornwall Airport Newquay or Land\u2019s End Airport. Tourists can also travel over by boat from Penzance Harbour or get a helicopter from the heliport at Penzance.<\/p>\n
The range of accommodation is huge from converted barns and castles to four-star hotels, self-catering apartments and even camping for those on a budget. They all use the Isles of Scilly Approved Accommodation Scheme accreditation which means that the properties have been independently assessed to meet industry \u201csafe, legal and clean\u201d requirements.<\/p>\n
