A former flight attendant has revealed her four reasons for quitting her job in the airline industry.

Although Ashlee, who goes by @ashleejjane on TikTok, said that there were plenty of positive aspects to the role, she felt they were outweighed by other drawbacks.

Outlining the first reason why she chose to leave the position, she said that shift patterns, which required her to be more flexible with the hours she worked, were ‘really exhausting’.

She also cited the demands of the aviation industry, saying that because ‘it never stops’, the former flight attendant found it difficult to arrange holiday and encountered issues when trying to swap shifts with former colleagues.

Shecited the demands of the aviation industry, saying that because ‘it never stops’, the former flight attendant found it difficult to arrange holiday and encountered issues when trying to swap shifts with former colleagues

Elaborating, Ashlee said: ‘There is a lot that goes into shift swapping as well. They need to make sure that you have enough days off, that you have enough rest time in between your shifts, so it’s [harder] to swap shifts with people’.

Her next reason for leaving her role as a flight attendant was because she found the job too unpredictable, saying ‘nothing is guaranteed’, claiming that even her hours on the day she was due to work were not set in stone.

Explaining why this happens, Ashlee highlighted that flight operators ‘can pretty much send you anywhere at any time’, which she said made it harder for employees ‘to plan [their] life’.

Ashlee’s final reason for quitting her job as a flight attendant was due to the amount of time she had to spend away from home.

While the chance to travel and stay in a number of different locations across the world is something that entices many people into working as a flight attendant, Ashlee said she started to grow tired of constantly moving around and wanted to spend more time at home with her partner.

Reaction from other users who had worked as flight attendants saw them agree with Ashlee’s take on the role and the reasons she gave for quitting her job.

One user said: ‘It’s a great job when you wanna get out of your hometown and explore the world. Once you get your travel out of it, you see the job very differently’.

A second added: ‘Girl my life has changed since I stopped flying! I feel refreshed and don’t get nearly as sick anymore it’s incredible’.
