A travel vlogger has shared the country they perceived as being the ‘most underrated in Europe’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She began the video by saying: ‘This is the most underrated country in Europe. It’s super affordable coming from the west and I’m honestly not sure why more westerners aren’t coming here’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Posting on her TikTok account @haleyandzach_, Haley added: ‘There’s beautiful architecture, monasteries, churches and castles.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘It’s the birthplace of wine and the food is absolutely delicious so make sure to put [the city] on your bucket list’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Users in the comments blasted the vlogger for her apparent lack of geographical knowledge, even though she was correct to name Georgia as a European country, given that it lies in Eurasia<\/p>\n

Advice on the Government website says that the political situation in Georgia is generally calm, and although homosexuality is legal in Georgia, and there are anti-discrimination laws. Same-sex relationships are still not widely accepted.<\/p>\n
Pride marches in 2019 and 2021 were cancelled because the police did not guarantee security. In 2023, a Pride event was cancelled after a violent protest.<\/p>\n
There are frequent small earthquakes in Georgia. The most recent significant earthquake took place in 2022 \u2013 an earthquake measuring 6.2 struck 104km south-west of Tbilisi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Embassy of Georgia’s official website states the following on the country’s geography: ‘Georgia is situated in the Eastern European region of South Caucasus. In the southeast, it has a border with Azerbaijan, in the south with Armenia and Turkey, and in the north with Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘The western part of Georgia meets the Black Sea, which connects Georgia physically to the European Union.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Other users were shocked to find out that wine originated in Georgia, as they wrote: ‘Birth place of wine????? haahahahahah God Dionysus was from Georgia??’<\/p>\n
A response which confirmed the birthplace of wine read: ‘Yeah. Armenians brought wine into the Mediterranean. In fact, they are a couple of thousand years older than Greeks’.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The country is considered to be the birthplace of wine as archaeologists were able to trace the world\u2019s first known wine creation back to the people of the South Caucasus, all the way back in 6,000BC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Inhabitants of Georgia at the time discovered that grape juice could be turned into wine by burying it underground during the winter months, per National Geographic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As Georgia is the oldest producer of wine, it naturally offers a wide variety, with the most notable being different variations from the country’s Saperavi grape.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This grape gives off aromas of autumn berries, ripe dark fruits, cassis and spice, with hints of leather, licorice, chocolate and coffee, according to Pocket Wine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Attractions in Tbilisi include the towering Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Bridge of Peace, with local dishes such as khachapuri – a cheese and egg pizza – proving to be a popular hit with tourists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the best places to consume these soup dumplings are sakhinkles (khinkali houses) in Pasanauri, a village 50 miles north of Tbilisi, where wild mountain herbs accentuate the filling’s flavour.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Khinklis Sakhli is also a popular spot among locals back in the capital of Tbilisi.\u00a0<\/p>\n
