This cosy parish has been named one of the prettiest villages in the UK despite not being well-known, making it the perfect place to visit for anyone looking for a quiet getaway.
South Pool is a picture-postcard village located in Devon, England in the heart of the countryside known for its storybook cottages, enchanting scenery and sparkling lakeside.
It has been named the “most beautiful village” in the UK by CN Traveller who described this charming location as being known for its “sailing brigade, smart shops and ice-cream parlous.”
The area has also exploded in popularity on social media due to its surrounding beaches. One traveller described the nearby Banthan Beach as being the “most beautiful beach without leaving the UK.”
However, some locals are trying to keep South Pool hidden, as one commentator said: “Shhh, don’t tell anyone! We locals want to keep it a secret!”

Why visit South Pool?
There are many nature trails and golden beaches surrounding South Pool for anyone wishing for a relaxing trip with plenty of scenic walks, and the perfect area to explore is the surrounding creek where visitors can take a stroll near the water’s edge.
There are also watersports in the area such as paddleboarding and canoeing, but visitors can also take a more relaxing approach by booking a cruise to explore the area.
Those interested in exploring South Pool’s water can book a canoeing trip with the Singing Paddles which explores both the local area and wildlife. Not only is there lots of singing, but on certain trips, the Singing Paddles will find a deserted beach nearby to light a fire and “brew up” for anyone looking to have fun, plus dogs are allowed on the canoes for free.
